Brief History Of OAU Teaching Hospital Complex School Of Nursing
The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex is one of the first Teaching Hospitals established by the Federal Government to provide high-quality health care to its citizens.
In 1967, the defunct Western State Government of Nigeria agreed to build a medical school at its state university in Ile-Ife (which was then five (5) years old) to offer manpower to address the state’s health problems. On May 8, 1972, the then-University of Ife (now OAU) established a Faculty of Health Science following thorough preparation.
The defunct Western State Government established the State Health Council on July 1, 1975, marking a significant development in Nigeria. Health Management System – Established the Ife/Ijesa Zone Health Board.
OAU Teaching Hospital School Of Nursing Requirements
(A). EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
West African School Certificate/GCE “O” Level, or Senior Secondary School Certificate (NECO) with Five Credits level passes at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
1. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE FOR ONE (1) CALENDAR YEAR PROGRAMME
In addition to the qualifications in (a) above, candidates must possess the following Professional qualifications and experience for eligibility to apply:
- Must have qualified as a Community Health Extension Worker.
- Possess a First Degree in Community Health Science, Health Education, Public Health, or HND in Community Health.
- Applicant must be registered with the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) and possess a current practicing license.
2. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE FOR TWO (2) CALENDAR YEARS PROGRAMME
In addition to qualifications in (a) above, candidates must possess any of the following Professional qualifications and experience for eligibility to apply:
- Diploma in Community Health.
- Community Health Extension Workers Certificate with 5 years experience.
- Applicant must be registered with the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) and possess a current practicing license.
(B) WRITTEN TEST AND ORAL INTERVIEW
Selection for admission will be based on candidates’ performance at a Competitive Written test and Oral interview to be conducted on Monday, 8th, and Tuesday, 9th July 2024 respectively.
CANDIDATES ARE TO BRING THEIR ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES AND PRACTISING LICENSES TO THE EXAMINATION CENTRE.
(C) METHOD OF APPLICATION
Application forms are obtainable from the School of Community Health, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife from Monday 5th February 2024 for Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) only after payment into the OAUTHC School Account via REMITA PLATFORM Account Number 0280190665014 GIFMIS code 1000277586) through any Commercial bank of your choice and indicate the purpose of payment as “Admission Form into School of Community Health”.
Thereafter, the evidence of payment should be brought to the school to collect the admission form.
(D) CLOSING DATE
Completed application forms duly endorsed by sponsors, together with photocopies of relevant credentials should be forwarded to the School of Community Health, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife not later than Friday, 28th June, 2024.
